Weekend Wrap-up

This blog will allow you to talk about the important sporting events that happened over the weekend with your co-workers or whoever.

BASEBALL: There is no other team hotter right now than the Cubs. They completed their sweep over the Cardinals and took over the top spot in the NL Central. Rizzo is heating up and if Yu Darvish comes to form, then they should be the favorites in the division. The Texas Rangers are still hanging around .500 with their 16-16 record. I have a feeling that this team will either implode and be terrible, or explode and challenge the Astros for the top spot. (I think the imploding will happen since the pitching staff isn’t great). Despite all of the injuries, the Yankees are only 2 games out of 1st in the AL East, and the Red Sox are heating up. Watch out. Speaking of the Red Sox, their Manager Cora is not attending the White House trip with the team.

FOOTBALL: The NFL Draft started on April 25th, but people are still talking about a few picks. Kyler Murray went #1 overall, and new head coach Kingsbury actually recruited him out of high school. The biggest surprise in the draft was Daniel Jones getting taken 6th over all by the Giants. The Duke QB was ranked by many as a backup at best, but the Giants took him wayyyyy tooooo early. In NCAAF Clemson lads top 50 prospect Uiagalelei, he looks like the man to take over for Lawrence in a few years. Michigan football went to South Africa and visited the prison that Mandela was held in. (Michigan is known for taking awesome trips in the offseason)

HOCKEY: The Dallas Stars and the St. Louis Blues are heading to a game 7 to see who advances to the Western Conference Finals. Game 7 will be on Tuesday at 7pm. The Carrolina Hurricanes advanced to the Eastern Confernece Finals. The Bruins need one more win to defeat Columbus, and the Sharks need one more win to knock out the Avalanche. They both play their game 6 tonight! If you don’t watch hockey, I highly suggest the Stars vs Blues game 7 on Tuesday. It is going to be very intense.

BASKETBALL: Its the playoffs in the NBA and their is no Lebron, so are the playoffs really happening???? The answer is yes. The Warriors are still the team to beat in the NBA, but the Rockets stole a game from them in the series and look to even the series tonight at 2 wins each. The Bucks and Celtics play tonight and the Bucks lead the series 2-1. The other series are Raptors vs 76ers and the Nuggets vs Trail Blazers. Both of these series are tied at 2 each.

KENTUCKY DERBY: The Kentucky Derby for the first time disqualified the winner. The DQ of Maximum Security lost betters over 42 million dollars. (Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?). Country House won the race after the DQ and was a 65-1 odds to win. If you don’t know how to play the ponies, if you bet 1 dollar, then you would have won 65 dollars.
